Edited by: Andile Nkosi
At Gospel Buzz we know that music fans are interested in knowing the history and background of South Africa's biggest muso. We took the liberty of digging the history of the legend, Omega and this is his story.

Omega Khunou, was born in Rustenburg and grew up in Koster in the North West province of South Africa. Born in a family that serves God, his father is a pastor of a church called Reconciliation Fellowship ministry. This is where Omega discovered the talent that God gave at an early age of 10.

"My singing started in the church (Sunday school) and I grew with it to the youth choir and again in the school where I was attending."

In 2001, God made a way for Omega to move to Johannesburg where he attended Funda College in Soweto to study and know more about his chosen career, music. In 2003 he recorded an album titled MESSIA and later in 2007 he released WALK IN THE LIGHT through the record label Do-Jam production under Dodo Monamodi.

"By God’s grace I’ve been to places like Holland, Lesotho, and Botswana..."

In February 2010, Omega received a heaven sent call from Dr Oupa Montshiwagae from Spirit Music who he asked him to visit New Life Changing Bible Church, a church he was pasturing in Kagiso (Krugersdorp). Omega fell in love with the church and later joined the music team. It was through his service at New Life Changing Bible Church that God opened a door for him to be part of Spirit of Praise Volume 3 leading the the song, Hayo Ya Tshwanang le Wena.

Omega swiftly began working with Kgotso Makgalema and Zaza as a back-up singer. And by the grace of God, Spirit music directors Mr Aubrey Peacock and Dr Oupa Montshiwagae realised his potential and talent in me and they gave him an opportunity to record a Spirit Music debut album, HAYO. The title single turnued out to be a powerful one. Making impact locally and internationally doing well music stores.

Though his music, Omega has travelled the world including Holland, Lesotho, Botswana and other provinces in South Africa and has shared the stage with numerous great artists including Benjamin Dube and Dr Tumi. Today, Omega is a strong gospel brand aventuring into executive producing his own album and DVD recording which will be a collaboration between his label Revelation Music and Spirit Music.
